ADC Tanzania, in partnership with the United States African Development Foundation (USADF), drives transformative change across Tanzania through innovative projects focused on three key pillars: renewable energy, agribusiness, and women-led initiatives. By providing technical expertise, advisory services, and capacity building, we empower underserved communities, foster sustainable economic growth, and enhance livelihoods.

Agribusiness Projects

  • UWAMARU AMCOS (Mbeya): Avocado cooperative exporting to Kenya, secured a $250k expansion grant with ADC’s training and market linkages.
  • Masama Mula AMCOS (Kilimanjaro): Coffee cooperative doubled membership and improved quality with a TZS 500M grant and ADC’s support.
  • Seaweed Café (Zanzibar, Kilwa): Supports 600+ women seaweed farmers, impacting 810+ beneficiaries with processed seaweed products.
  • Khebhandza Marketing Company (Mbeya): Processes cereals with a TZS 500M grant, increasing farmer tonnage with ADC’s support.

ADC’s Role: Offers advisory services, capacity building, and project management to strengthen value chains and farmer incomes.

Renewable Energy Projects

  • Millennium Engineers Enterprises Ltd: Uses solar power to dry sardines hygienically and provides solar lamps for fishermen in Lake Victoria.
  • Rafiki Energy Company Ltd: Supplies affordable solar home systems and lights to over 1,300 residents and fishermen in Tanzania.
  • Endep Limited: Equips women’s fishing groups in Lake Victoria’s five islets with solar freezers to store catches, boosting incomes.

ADC’s Role: Provides technical and advisory support, ensuring successful implementation and sustainable energy access.

Women-Led Projects

  • Nafaka Supplies Limited: Led by Ms. Severina Mwakateba, mitigated COVID-19 impacts with a TZS 100M grant and ADC’s financial training.
  • Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE): Supports women entrepreneurs with over $120,000 disbursed across multiple regions.
  • Kasole Secrets: Founded by Hyasintha Ntuyeko, produces bamboo charcoal sanitary pads with ADC’s monitoring support.

ADC’s Role: Provides training, monitoring, and advisory services to empower women-led businesses and innovations.

JIFUNZE UTOKE is a program funded by the Africa Guarantee Fund through AFAWA, in partnership with Equity Bank Tanzania and ADC Tanzania. It aims to empower women-owned businesses (WSMEs) with training in areas like management, marketing, bookkeeping, and tax compliance. Graduates may receive tailored support to access loans from Equity Bank.
